dishwasher sticks out about 2' -- is this normal?
hey folks... finishing up a remodel and my GC installed my Miele dishwasher like so:
as you can see, the door sticks out from the counter & cabinets quite a bit, while I assumed that it would be more flush. he claims that this install is industry standard and that the flange, not the face, should be flush with the cabinets (picture 1).
is there any way to flush-mount this dishwasher? he claims that he doesn't have any way to mount the sides to the cabinets if we were to push the dishwasher in further, but maybe something can be added at this time to grab onto?
Installing a Bosch dishwasher will typically take about two to three hours. Before beginning installation, hook up the hot water line and the waste line under the kitchen sink. Bosch dishwashers include some of the materials needed to complete the installation; other materials you will need to buy. Most of the installation can be completed with only a little plumbing experience. If your electrical experience is lacking, consider hiring an electrician to install the power cord.
Unscrew the strain relief plate to access the electrical connection on the dishwasher. Connect the strain relief to the strain relief plate. Insert the power cord through the strain relief plate. Screw the clamp tight around the power cord, making sure not to over-tighten. Install the entire assembly into the junction box and secure with the screw.
Remove 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inches) of the casing covering the wires on the end of the power cord. Strip 1.2 cm (1/2 inch) of the casing from the individual wires. Insert the bare copper or green wire into the opening marked 'G,' and tighten the screw. Insert the blue wire into the opening marked 'N,' and tighten the screw. Insert the brown wire into the opening marked 'L,' and tighten the screw. Screws should not be over-tightened. Replace the junction box on the dishwasher.
Attach the drain hose with a screwdriver clamp or squeeze clamp to the drain connection on the rear of the dishwasher. Connect the other end of hose to the wasteline under the kitchen sink with a clamp. Make sure the hose is firmly connected before securing with the clamps.
Carefully lay the dishwasher onto its back. Wrap the small brass elbow with thread sealer, and screw into freshwater connection on the dishwasher, typically located behind the toe-kick cover. Attach the hot water line to the other end of the elbow. Lay the water line in the channel underneath the unit so the line runs out the back of the dishwasher. Gently set the dishwasher upright again while making sure that the hot water line stays in the channel. Turn the hot water supply on under the kitchen sink. Inspect the hot water line for leaking at both connections.
Roll the Bosch dishwasher underneath the worktop until the door is flush with the front of the cabinet doors and drawers. Locate the four levelling adjustments on the front of the dishwasher. Use a screwdriver to level the dishwasher from front to back, turning clockwise to raise the dishwasher and counter-clockwise to lower the dishwasher. Repeat to level the dishwasher from side to side.
Slide the pre-affixed mounting brackets located on top of the dishwasher as far apart as they will go. Insert a mounting bracket screw and tighten fully. Repeat with the other bracket.
Start the dishwasher and run for a complete cycle with no dishes or detergent. Check for leaks on the freshwater hose and on the drain hose. Install he toe-kick cover on the front of the dishwasher.
